Daniel Unfried
Lead Estimator

Daniel is a lifelong Alaskan with over 25 years of hands-on construction experience. His journey began as a teenager, working alongside his father to build their family home—an experience that inspired him to construct his own home by the age of 19. He spent his early years as a licensed framing contractor in residential construction before shifting to commercial work through the Carpenter’s Union. After becoming a journeyman carpenter, Daniel quickly advanced to Carpenter Foreman, leading projects across Alaska ranging from $1 million to $30 million.

As the first full-time employee at SD Construction, Daniel has worn many hats—laborer, carpenter, expeditor, superintendent—and now serves as the company’s Lead Estimator. His deep understanding of construction from the ground up allows him to estimate projects with accuracy and insight, always with the end goal of delivering quality and value to clients.

When he’s not at work, Daniel can be found deep in the Alaskan backcountry. A licensed assistant hunting guide, he has successfully guided hunts for moose, sheep, mountain goat, and grizzly bear. His love for the outdoors is now shared with his five children, as they spend their free time together making memories hunting, fishing, and exploring Alaska’s most remote areas.

Daniel’s blend of experience, leadership, and dedication makes him a cornerstone of SD Construction’s success and a valued mentor on the team.
